There was a half-day meeting on the 3rd April 2003 at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Leicester examining recent progress and ongoing research into various aspects related to solitary waves and localised buckling. The aim was to bring together mathematicians and engineers and provide a stimulating medium of discussion for people working on problems related to localisation. Lectures were presented by Prof. Yibin Fu (Keele), Prof. Roger Grimshaw (Loughborough), Dr. Gert van der Heijden (UCL) and Dr. Ahmer Wadee (Imperial College). Throughout, there was an emphasis on theoretical, numerical and experimental aspects. For more details, please visit the official website . The meeting was jointly sponsored by the London Mathematical Society and the Mathematical Modelling Centre (MMC).
