Introduction

I am a new lecturer, in the Functional Analysis Group.

Previously, I spend three years as a Junior Research Fellowship at St John's College, Oxford; completed a Phd at Leeds University Mathematics Department with Garth Dales and Charles Read; and studied the Mathematics Tripos at Pembroke College, Cambridge.

Research

I am interested in aspects of abstract functional analysis, mainly Banach and operator algebras and links to abstract harmonic analysis, with some interest in Banach spaces. Recent work has:

  • Studied cohomological properties of (quantum) convolution algebras associated with compact quantum groups.
  • With Volker Runde, looked at amenability-like properties for topological quantum groups.
  • Used the language of quantum groups to motivate applications of Banach space geometry to the study of weakly almost periodic functionals on the measure algebra.
  • With Stuart White and Hung Le Pham, looked at uniqueness results for preduals of dual Banach algebras: concentrating on (semi)group algebras.
